John has been involved in the sports and events marketing business for over 25 years. Engaged by SOCOG, he was responsible for the marketing and promotions program of the 40 Olympic Test Events and was the Venue Manager for the Road Cycling at both the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

John founded sports and event marketing companies Javelin Communications and Kookaburra Event Marketing and has been Managing Director of both.

John has an enviable and proven track record in sport having worked with SOCOG, the Australian Olympic Committee, Australian Commonwealth Games Association, Australian Rugby Union, Australian Swimming, Athletics Australia, Australian Weightlifting and Australian Hockey just to name a few. His corporate blue chip clients have also been extensive, as are his Government contacts.

His experience and hands-on involvement across all facets of the Sports Marketing and the events industry are fully comprehensive and include marketing and sponsorship, event management, promotion, communications (public relations and media management) hospitality, incentives, athlete management, licensing and merchandising.

His most recent assignments have included leading the BrandAdvantage team on the Qantas Sponsorship account for the past 3 years, which includes an extensive sports, arts, ambassadors and charities portfolio under the Sharing the Spirit Community program. This has predominantly involved undertaking independent valuations to determine ROI by utilising the BrandAdvantage Proprietary Tools, plus developing and delivering activation and leveraging programs for the Qantas Wallabies and Qantas Socceroos.

Further consulting to the Sydney Entertainment Centre on sponsorship marketing as well as the UCI World Cup Track Cycling and World Masters Track Cycling staged at Sydney's Dunc Gray Velodrome.
